James Ihrke

I grew up on the shores of Madison Lake, where fishing, biking, baseball, and 4-H were my primary interests. My passion for history can be traced back to amazing teachers at Mankato Loyola, graduating as a National Honor Society member in 2000. I continued on to Gustavus Adolphus College, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in History.

I have long held a desire to work as a librarian, and being hired by NCHS as Operations Coordinator in July 2022  feels like the start of the fulfillment of that dream.

I have worked as a professional musician for 15+ years, which has taken me on many adventures I would never have had otherwise. My proudest accomplishment is being selected as an “Emerging Artist” grantee by the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council. You will still find me playing weekends with “The Ben Marti Trio.”

As for hobbies, I am a voracious reader,  learning gardener, occasional curler, and a huge Star Trek fan.
