Our permanent exhibit interprets this watershed event and its lasting impact on Dakota communities and the future of southern Minnesota. \nExplore this history during a guided exhibit tour at the Treaty Site History Center.\nDuring the tour\, you’ll learn about the Dakota\, explore why the treaty was negotiated\, what it changed\, and how its legacy continues to shape this region today. \nIf you live\, work\, or raise a family in southern Minnesota\, this history shaped the place you know. \nTours are $5 per person and free for NCHS members. Space is limited to 20 participants. RSVP is required. \n\nTours require a minimum of 3 registered participants. If that minimum is not met\, registered attendees will be notified by email 48 hours in advance and offered the option to reschedule or visit that day for a self-guided tour at the tour admission price.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a drop-in celebration honoring Bob Sandeen’s 25 years of service to the Nicollet County Historical Society.\nFor 25 years\, Bob Sandeen has helped researchers\, visitors\, students\, and community members discover and understand Nicollet County’s history. \nPlease join the Nicollet County Historical Society for Bob Sandeen Day: 25 Years in the Archives\, a drop-in celebration honoring Bob’s extraordinary service\, dedication\, and stewardship of local history. \nBob began his work with NCHS on June 13\, 2001\, as Research Coordinator. Since then\, he has cared for the Society’s archival collections\, assisted thousands of researchers\, and shared his deep knowledge of Nicollet County history with generosity and care. Even after his retirement in 2015\, Bob has continued to serve NCHS on a daily basis\, helping maintain the archives and respond to research inquiries. \nGuests are invited to stop by as they are able for treats\, Bob stories\, and a special recognition honoring his 25 years with NCHS. \nEvent details:Date: Friday\, June 12Time: 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.Location: Treaty Site History CenterRSVP: RSVPs are appreciated but not required.
