Site Manager, Treaty Site History Center

$12.00/hour | Part-time, hours vary
 

The Treaty Site History Center Manager acts as the public face for the historical society at the Treaty Site History Center (TSHC). The Nicollet County Historical Society partners with the Minnesota State Historical Society to operate the Traverse des Sioux Historic Site and the Traverse des Sioux Trail System.

Hours may vary, but primarily fall on weekdays; weekends if necessary. Duties include organizing the TSHC front desk schedule for all open days, scheduling and staffing group tours and facility rentals, organizing programming at the Treaty Site, overseeing the Traverse des Sioux Trail System, and building maintenance and pest control.

The TSHC Site Manager is responsible for administering the daily activities of the Treaty Site History Center when on duty, including: excellent customer service, site retail operations, interpretation, facility rentals, and possibly light site maintenance. The TSHC Site Manager is responsible for communicating ongoing site information to the Office Manager and/or Executive Director. This could include but is not limited to: phone messages, program opportunities, visitor questions, building issues, monetary discrepancies, or other problems and concerns. The Site Manager may occasionally participate in other core museum functions like public events, research, and other work as assigned by the Executive Director.

Museum Assistant, Treaty Site History Center

$9.00/hour | Part-time weekends, Hours vary seasonally
Saturdays: 10:00a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Sundays (March – October): 1:00 -4:00 p.m.
Closed three weeks around Christmas
 

Do you have a passion for history? Like meeting new people? If so you’re just the person we’re looking for! The Treaty Site is looking to expand its weekend staff.

The Museum Assistant acts as the public face for the historical society at the Treaty Site History Center. Hours may vary, but primarily fall on Saturdays and Sundays.  Museum Assistants will largely be scheduled in pairs, or with another NCHS employee, board member, or volunteer.  Duties include opening and closing the Treaty Site History Center, greeting all visitors and site contacts, answering phones, selling merchandise, and occasionally conducting tours.

Site Guide, Fort Ridgely Historic Site

$9.00/hour | Part-time weekends, Seasonal, Hours may vary
Memorial Day weekend – Labor Day weekend: Friday – Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Labor Day-third weekend in October: Saturday-Sunday 10 am-5 pm
 

We are currently seeking applicants for our Site Guides at Fort Ridgely! If you’re looking for a fun and interesting summer job Fort Ridgely is the place for you! We have great visitors and programs. Scheduling is flexible but keep in mind it is a seasonal part-time job and we are only open on the weekends. 

The site guide acts as the public face for the historical society. Hours will vary, with an emphasis on weekends. Site guides will largely be scheduled in pairs, or with another NCHS employee, board member, or volunteer. Duties include opening and closing the site, greeting all visitors and site contacts, answering phones, selling merchandise, and conducting tours.
