Site Guide, Fort Ridgely Historic Site
We are currently seeking applicants for our Site Guides at Fort Ridgely! If you’re looking for a fun and interesting summer job Fort Ridgely is the place for you! We have great visitors and programs. Scheduling is flexible but keep in mind it is a seasonal part-time job and we are only open on the weekends.
The site guide acts as the public face of the historical society. Hours will vary, with an emphasis on weekends. Site guides will largely be scheduled in pairs, or with another NCHS employee, board member, or volunteer. Duties include opening and closing the site, greeting all visitors and site contacts, answering phones, selling merchandise, and conducting tours. The Site Guide is responsible for administering the daily activities of the site when on duty including excellent customer service, site retail operations, interpretation, facility rentals, and possibly light site maintenance. The Site Guide is responsible for communicating ongoing site information to the Site Manager and/or Executive Director. This could include but is not limited to phone messages, visitor questions, building issues, monetary discrepancies, or other problems and concerns. The Site Guide may occasionally participate in other core site functions like public events, research, and other work as assigned by the Site Manager.
