Museum Assistant, Treaty Site History Center
The Museum Assistant acts as the public face for the historical society at the Treaty Site History Center and E. St. Julian Cox House. Hours may vary but primarily fall on Saturdays and Sundays seasonally. Museum Assistants will largely be scheduled in pairs, or with another NCHS employee, board member, or volunteer. Duties include opening and closing the Treaty Site History Center, greeting all visitors and site contacts, answering phones, selling merchandise, and occasionally conducting tours.
The Museum Assistant is responsible for administering the daily activities of the Treaty Site History Center when on duty including excellent customer service, Site retail operations, interpretation, facility rentals, and possibly light site maintenance. The Museum Assistant is responsible for communicating ongoing Site information to the Office Manager and/or Executive Director. This could include but is not limited to phone messages, visitor questions, building issues, monetary discrepancies, or other problems and concerns. The Museum Assistant may occasionally participate in other core museum functions like public events, research, and other work as assigned by the Executive Director.
